Shanghai isn’t as cheap as you’d think, or as I’d hoped. The yoga studio I joined sets me back RMB 150 per class ($23) and drinks out on the town are frequently upwards of $10.
Thankfully, fresh produce can still be found at almost every street corner at very reasonable prices. This picture was taken after a trip to to “The Avocado Lady,” whose goods are a godsend for foreigners looking for produce with a western slant.
I stocked up for the week on fruit, veggies and nuts and herbs, all for RMB 104 - just over $16. Take that, Whole Foods!
(We’ll save the likelihood of pesticides/chemicals in said produce for another post, and I’ll just give everything a good scrub for now…)
